“I feel I’ve lost all my power and I am defeated when I am misperceived, or ignored.” (Dr. Lori Baudino)

Several of the children I work with asked me to share with them my personal Kryptonite. The experience of a person, action, or item that makes me feel weak, unresponsive, and powerless. This is a wonderful moment to reflect on how insightful children can be and how they are able to offer opportunities to process feelings collaborativley.

Rachel identified her kryptonite, “when I feel I am mean or ugly” my own self doubt and critsm makes me powerless.

Richard stated that his kryptonite, “when a teacher yells at me with a big voice that I feel is mean.”

The examples continued from one child to another. All realizing the incredible feeling and sensations that occupy in our body, when we are confronted with these events/relationships. So together, we collaborated in helping each other find the POWER to be strong from within — to find our own truths, to ask each other for help, and to problem solve strategies to break apart the kryptonite to no longer be used against us.

Children enjoy when emotional expression and psychological topics are filled with movement, play and relatable topics. From our super senses (using our super powers of the 5+ senses) to manage difficulty to defeating kryptonite — we were able to make the world feel more safe and for the better!
